Hot Housing Market Equals Rising Appraisals

The incredibly hot DFW housing market has created cheers and jeers from homeowners.

The Real Estate Center recently released a graphic from the Community Impact Newspaper covering Grapevine, Colleyville and Southlake. According to data provided by the Tarrant Appraisal District, since 2015, the total appraised values increased by 24 percent in Colleyville, by 25 percent in Grapevine, and by 26 percent in Southlake. As appraisals rise, so follows a rise in property taxes.

Why are so many flocking to the Colleyville, Grapevine and Southlake area? According to officials with the Tarrant Appraisal District, several companies have relocated their headquarters from California to North Texas.

  • Kubota Tractor Corp, Grapevine
  • Jamba Juice, Frisco
  • Charles Schwab, Westlake
  • Toyota Motor Corp., Plano
  • Pei Wei Asian Dinner, Las Colinas
  • Facebook Data Center, Alliance

Real estate agents also note the proximity of Colleyville, Grapevine and Southlake to DFW Airport, as well as their stellar school districts.

While several areas of DFW are experiencing an amazing amount of growth, there are always going to be some negatives that come with the positives.
