IKEA, the Swedish home furnishing company, has submitted a proposal to the city for the development of IKEA Fort Worth. If approved, the new location would be built on the southwest corner of I-35 and N. Tarrant Parkway.
This would be the third IKEA in the DFW area with a store in Frisco, and another slated to open in Grand Prairie later this year.
Construction on the Fort Worth store could get going in the spring of 2018. The 289,000 SF structure would sit on 27 acres, and include 900 parking spaces. Anyone who has visited an IKEA on a Saturday knows those parking spaces are needed! It is estimated that more than 250 jobs could be created.
