Texas Tax Bills and Delinquency

Now that we are halfway through the month of January, please note that the deadline for paying your 2017 property taxes in Texas is January 31st.

Taxes that remain unpaid on February 1st, are considered delinquent. Penalty and interest charges are added to the original amount. Failure to receive a tax bill does not affect the validity of the tax, penalty or interest due, the delinquency date, the existence of a tax lien or any procedure the taxing unit institutes to collect the tax.

You can check with the tax assessor’s office on local payment options that may be available, including credit card payments, deferrals, installment payments, split payments, and partial payments.

Information regarding payment of property taxes can be found on the Texas Comptroller’s website on the PTAD’s Property Tax Bills page.

As always, if you have any questions about commercial or business personal property taxes, please call Southland Property Tax Consultants at (817)335-7377 and we’ll be happy to assist you.
